According to the annual statistics, the number of violent offences committed by girls aged 10 to 17 has nearly doubled in three years.
This is a new reality in the female arena, realizing that girls really want to be like boys in all levels.
Girls fight videos have increased substantially online.
You see segments on the news showing
alarming videos of teenage girls hitting other girls for the purpose of making a video to ridicule publicly their victims, become popular after posting the video in You tube, etc.
The silent “Queen Bee” has taking it to the next level.
Girls new behaviors such as violence was considered deeply meaningful; it served to maintain group solidarity, reinforce friendships, affirm allegiances, and enhance personal status within the group.
This makes me believe that these generations of women were exposed to a lot of media violence or Real World generation of MTV teachings to name a few.
Women have increased about 10% in aggression compare to the already higher number in men.
Some of these teenage girls feel a rush of adrenaline when they fight or attack another making it addictive.
A lot of these videos are shown and advertized sexually to get more momentum online. They have underage fighting girls in bathing suits and some of these children before getting into a fight use drugs and get drunk.
A CNN article mentions: In 2003, 25 percent of high school girls said they had been in a physical fight in the past year, according to a survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (The figure for boys was 40.5 percent.) A Justice Department report released in 2006 showed that by age 17, 21 percent of girls said they had assaulted someone with the intent to cause serious harm.
Do you think these fighting patterns have increased due to violence in the media? Or the internet is creating a problem with gossip and conflicts that children can’t defend themselves and need to detonate by fighting??
